The Club's Veterinary Officer reported that on examination after

Trainer Mr. Darius Byramji and Jockey C.Alford were questioned
regarding the running and riding of HALL MARK. The trainer stated
that (a) the horse was very fractious during its last practice
jump out wherein it bolted without the rider and therefore he had
specifically requested the starter to provide a handler despite
which his charge was fractious in the gates and jumped out awk-
wardly; (b) although he had instructed the rider to keep the
horse in 3rd or 4th position during the early part of the race
and ride out in the straight but soon after the start the horse
met with interference from horse on either side thereby losing
some ground; (c) thereafter the rider gradually improved the
position; and (d) after entering the straight it accelerated very
well as it had done in its last outing during Winter Meeting
2007-08 but could only finish 3rd in the above race; (e) further
the horse had sustained a deep cut injury on left hind pastern
and also was reported that left hind shoe had splayed during the
race. Considering the above factors he was not taking any excep-
tion to the handling of his charge HALL MARK by the rider. The
rider corroborated the statement of the trainer as regards the
instructions of the trainer as also the incidents had occurred
