The Madhavanagar Plate - (About) 1400 Metres Maiden Indian Horses 3 years old only (Terms) (12 Runners). Jockey Gaurav Sapra, the rider of SWEET SURRENDER, was fined Rs.2,000/- for shifting `in' and causing interference to SPARK OF REVERENCE (D. Gnaneshwar) on his inside approaching the 300 Metres. Jockey S. Shiva Kumar, the rider of ALL RISE, was severely repri- manded for inconveniencing CELESTIAL PRINCESS (Md. Shafiq) which in turn inconvenienced CORBETT ((C.D. Hayes) on his inside ap- proaching the 1000 Metres. SWEET SURRENDER (Gaurav Sapra) sustained a bleeding gum injury. 2nd Race: 160. The Kumta Plate - (About) 1200 Metres. Horses rated 00 to 25 (12 Runners). Jockey M. Suresh, the rider of GATI POWER, was severely repri- manded for not exercising sufficient control and for not main- taining a straight course approaching the 200 Metres thereby striking the heels of ZIGGY STARDUST (J.H. Christopher), in the process his mount stumbled momentarily unbalancing the rider resulting in bumping EVENING RHAPSODY (Gaurav Sapra). ZIGGY STARDUST (J.H. Christopher) burst its blood vessels after the race. Trainer Mr. Warren Singh was informed that he must produce a Fitness Certificate from the Club's Veterinary Officer before accepting with it again. GATI POWER (M. Suresh) sustained injuries on right fore fetlock and coronet. 3rd Race: 161. The Amazing Grey Plate - Div.II - (About) 1200 Metres. Horses rated 20 to 45, 5, 6 & 7 years old (11 Runners). Approaching the 800 Metres CARIBBEAN PIRATE (Gaurav Sapra) which was racing fiercely struck the false rails. Jockey Shobhan Babu, the rider of COUNT THIS, was reprimanded for inconveniencing CARIBBEAN PIRATE (Gaurav Sapra) on his inside approaching the 400 Metres. Jockey S. John, the rider of HAWAIIAN SUNRISE, was fined Rs.1,000/- for shifting `in' and causing interference to CARIB- BEAN PIRATE (Gaurav Sapra) on his inside approaching the 200 Metres. An enquiry has been opened into the running and riding of SPANISH CROWN. 4th Race: 162. The Brindavan Garden Plate - (About) 1600 Metres Horses rated 40 to 65. (10 Runners) OUR LANCER (D.Gnaneshwar) pulled up lame on left hind after the race. Trainer Mr. Pradeep Annaiah was informed that he must produce a Fitness Certificate from the Club's Veterinary Officer before accepting with it again. Jockey S.A. De Sousa, the rider of RAPTOR FORCE, reported that his mount was hanging `in' in the last 200 Metres thereby incon- veniencing STORMY RIVER (Gaurav Sapra). Trainer Mr. Darius Byram- ji was informed to get it checked by his Veterinarian and take appropriate corrective measures before accepting with it again. EXCELLENT ABILITY (M. Narredu) burst its blood vessels after the race. Trainer Mr. Darius Byramji was informed that he must produce a Fitness Certificate from the Club's Veterinary Officer before accepting with it again. Jockey A. Ashok Kumar, the rider of SARMAIDAR was reprimanded for inconveniencing STORMY RIVER (Gaurav Sapra) on his outside in the last 100 Metres. On questioning Jockey David Allan, the rider of STAR SPEED, he stated that the trainer had instructed him to (a) give his mount a chance to find its feet as it is sluggish and then gradually improve from four furlongs, try and come on to fourth/fifth position in the straight and to do his best thereafter; (b) his mount did not show any early speed; (c) he rode his mount from the word go and gradually tried to improve the position but his mount did not show any response to his urgings; and (d) he per- sonally thought that the horse is better over 2000 Metres. His explanations were noted for future reference. The Stipendiary Stewards reported Jockey C. Krishnan to the Stewards for riding an injudicious race in that he continued to restrain his mount GREENS from the 425 Metres almost up to 250 Metres more so when challenged by horses on his outside. The Stewards held an enquiry after the last race and interviewed Trainer Mr. B. Puttanna and Jockey C. Krishnan. After delibera- tions, they decided to (a) note the explanations tendered by trainer Mr. B. Puttanna and (b) suspend Jockey C. Krishnan from riding in races from 24-2-2009 to 13-3-2009 (both days inclusive) and fine him a sum of Rs.5,000/- for riding an injudicious race (Rule No.161(ii) on his mount GREENS in the above race (permitted to ride work). Surprise Sample was taken for analysis from b g STAR SPEED. 5th Race: 163. The P. Dayanand Pai & P. Satish Pai Bangalore Win- ter Million (Grade III)-(About) 1200 Metres. 3 year old Indian Horses (Foaled in 2006) (Terms) (7 Runners). Trainer Mr. Tharun Thimmaiah was fined a total sum of Rs.1,000/- for the delay in submitting his scratching form in respect of RAI'S STYLE and CHRONICLE. Permission was granted to trainer Mr. J.S. Dhariwal to withdraw ANGELFIRE on veterinary grounds as it was found to be trotting lame on right fore due to inflammed pastern when examined at 11.05 a.m. on 12-2-2009. He was informed that he must produce a Fitness Certificate from the Club's Veterinary Officer before ac- cepting with it again. Jockey Suraj Narredu, the rider of ABOLINE, was reprimanded for inconveniencing ALACRITY (M. Narredu) which in turn passed it on to PRICE TO FAME (Gaurav Sapra) on his inside soon after jumping out of the starting gates. Jockey M. Narredu, the rider of ALACRITY, was fined Rs.1,000/- for shifting `in' and causing interference to SPRINT STAR (Har- ish) approaching 800 Metres. ABOLINE (Suraj Narredu) sustained an injury on left hock. Ashok Kumar, the rider of REFLECTION OF GOLD, was ques- tioned regarding his riding instructions. The Jockey stated that (a) he was asked to ride from third/fourth position and do his best in the straight; (b) his mount did not show initial speed; (c) therefore he had to ride from the rear bunch; (d) approaching the 300 Metres when he used the whip on the left his mount went in and he had to steady his mount for a couple of strides; and (e) he rode out his mount thereafter. His explanations were noted. 7th Race: 165. The Amazing Grey Plate - Div.I - (About) 1200 Metres. Horses rated 20 to 45, 5, 6 & 7 years old (11 Runners). Mubarak, the rider of BURNING AMBITIONS, was fined Rs.1,000/- for not exercising sufficient control over his mount thereby drifting out and taking ATTATURK (Afsar Khan) further outside while negotiating the final bend. FESTINO (Saleem Golam) stumbled approaching the 500 Metres. Jockey David Allan, the rider of THE SPARTAN, was severely repri- manded for repeatedly looking back in the last 250 Metres for no apparent reason. ATTATURK (Afsar Khan) sustained gum injury. Horses rated 20 to 45, 5, 6 & 7 years old. As desired by the Stewards, the Stipendiary Stewards held an enquiry into the riding of Jockey C. Krishnan on IMMORTAL and questioned trainer Mr. B. Puttanna and Jockey C. Krishnan. The trainer stated that he had instructed the Jockey to position his mount fifth/sixth and to do his best in the straight. The Jockey stated that he followed the instructions of the trainer and fur- ther added that he rode out his mount with the aid of the whip in the straight. Their explanations were reported to the Stewards along with the details of betting at Bangalore and other racing centres. After deliberations, the Stewards decided to take no further action beyond noting the explanations. 19TH DAY, WEDNESDAY, 28TH JANUARY 2009 Race No.135: The Nethravathi Trophy-(About) 1400 Metres. Horses rated 20 to 45. The Stipendiary Stewards reported Jockey Mohammed Shoaib to the Stewards for unsatisfactory riding on his mount AFFIRMED CROWN in that he did not infuse sufficient vigour in the last 350 Metres. The Stewards held an enquiry on 13th February 2009 after the last race and interviewed Mr.S Marshall (Spokesman for Jockey Mohammed Shoaib) and Jockey Mohammed Shoaib himself and further inter- viewed trainer Mr. S. Ganapathy on 14th February 2009. After deliberations, they decided to (a) note the explanations tendered by trainer Mr. S. Ganapathy and (b) suspend Jockey Mohammed Shoaib from riding in races from 24-2-2009 to 27-3-2009 (both days inclusive) for unsatisfactory riding (Rule No.161(ii) on his mount AFFIRMED CROWN in the above race (permitted to ride work).
