week; (c) as the races were cancelled he ran his charge in this
race; and (d) the horse did not stay the distance. While noting

Trainer Mr. S. Padmanabhan and Jockey David Allan were ques-
tioned regarding the running and riding of DANTE'S PEAK. The

a good position, ride his race thereon and to do his best in the
straight; (b) the horse has a history of tendon problem; and (c)
the horse has less racing experience. The rider corroborated the
statement of the trainer and further added that (a) his mount did
not show initial speed; (b) when he urged the horse it was trying
to run into other horses; (c) he had to check his mount about two
to three times during the race to prevent it from running into
other horses; (d) his mount was galloping in snatches when it was
racing in the midst of other horses; and (e) his mount galloped
well in the straight when it was pulled away to outside from the
bunch. Their explanations were noted for future reference.

TWO TO TANGO (Shobhan Babu) sustained a very severe cut injury on

Metres. SUNNY GOLD (Samuel Fargeat) who was travelling directly

tioned with regard to the reason for not whipping his mount
especially when the trainer had specifically instructed him to do
so, the Jockey stated that (a) he tapped the horse few times
with the whip at the top of the straight; (b) he did not whip the
horse unnecessarily as he was apprehensive of unsettling his
mount when it was galloping very well; (c) otherwise he rode out
the horse very well with hands and heels; (d) he was permitted to
use the whip only recently; and (e) he had won on this horse at

with regard to the circumstances under which the horse bolted
even before coming to the paddock, the trainer stated that (a)
while he was saddling his charge he observed that the right fore
shoe of his horse was loose; (b) on examination by him it was
found that the aluminium shoe had broken into two pieces; (c) in
order to re-shoe his charge he was leading it to the nearby
