ADDITIONAL REPORT

BANGALORE WINTER MEETING 2015-16

SECOND DAY, SATURDAY, 7TH  NOVEMBER 2015

15. The Malaprabha Plate – Div.II - (About) 1200 Metres. Horses rated 40 to 65, 4 years old and over

Trainer Mr. R.R. Byramji and Jockey Ryan Marshall were questioned regarding the running and riding of SAGRADA in the above race. Then Jockey stated that he felt something was wrong with his mount so he got it examined by the Veterinary Officer after leaving the paddock at the start. After it was examined and certified fit it was allowed to run in the race. However, in the race he felt that his horse was not sound. Therefore he did not put pressure and handled it carefully. The trainer stated that after his charge’s last start on 6-3-2015 the gelding had soundness problem a couple of times. His charge was scanned and x-rayed by the Club’s Veterinary Officer and private Veterinarian. However, this problem could not be correctly diognised. Therefore it was under light work and during this period his charge had put on weight, felt shins and was on the heavier side. As such it was not able to perform well and since the Jockey felt something was wrong with the horse he had not ridden out vigorously. He added that he will give sufficient time before he accepts with his charge again. The Chief Veterinary Officer confirmed the statement of the trainer regarding the unsoundness.

The explanation of the trainer and Jockey were noted. However, the Jockey was told that as the horse was certified sound by the Club’s Veterinary Officer he should have made more effort to ride out his mount.
