The Stewards of the Bangalore Turf Club Ltd., at their meeting held on Wednesday, 12th February, 2020 considered the test report received from The Quanti Lab, Mauritius, pertaining to the analysis of the urine sample taken from b g PROPINE (trained by Mr. Kishan Thomas) which had shown the presence of FLUNIXIN (Class- IV) prohibited substance – the sample of which was taken after the said horse was placed First in the above race.

The Stewards noted the following:

The trainer/owner were given the option of sending the split sample of the urine for confirmatory analysis. The trainer vide his letter dated 5th February, 2020 informed the Club that he did not wish to exercise the above option of sending the split sample to The Horseracing Forensic Laboratory, New Market, U.K. or Hong Kong Jockey Club, Hong Kong.

Therefore, the Stewards decided to disqualify the horse b g PROPINE from the above race and revise the order of placings as under:-

The Stewards of the Bangalore Turf Club Ltd. at their meeting held on Friday, 6th March, 2020 considered the Charge Sheet No: 680 dated 5th March, 2020 pertaining to the positive finding of FLUNIXIN (Class IV) - prohibited substance in the urine sample taken from b g PROPINE after it placed First in Race No. 98, i.e., The Srirangapatna Plate - (About) 1100 metres. Horses rated 15 to 35, 5 years old and over run on Saturday, 11th January, 2020. The horse trained by Mr. Kishan Thomas and owned by Mr. Mr. Nanda Kumar. N.

The Stewards examined trainer Mr. Prasanna Kumar spokesperson for trainer Mr. Kishan Thomas and Mr. Kishan Thomas himself. After deliberations, the Stewards decided to fine trainer Mr. Kishan Thomas a sum of Rs.20,000/- (1st infringement of Medication Rules) in respect of his charge b g PROPINE as contained in BTC Calendar Notification under the heading “Medication and treatment of horses in Training and Racing and Anti-Doping Control”  reading as follows:

“The trainer is always responsible for the protection and security of the horse in his care. The trainers are warned that they will be held responsible if an examination of a horse, results in the finding of any prohibited substance/s”

Trainer was informed of his right to appeal.

Trainer Mr. Sharat Kumar was fined Rs.10,000/- for having accepted his charge PERFECTGOLDENERA (Shreyas Singh) when it was under B.T.F. BAN. Subsequently, permission was granted to him to withdraw the horse from the above race.
